Question: Your gender predictor seems to be wrong quite often. I thought that a child's gender was determined by the astrological sign that the child was conceived under? For example, I conceived a child on 10-12-06, under a masculine libra sign. Your chart says I should be having a girl, and I'm actually having a boy. This has been the case for a few of my friends as well. Does your gender predictor chart need editing?

Answer:

First of all, about "the astrological sign that the child was conceived under". This is the terminology from a sun sign column in a newspaper or other similar source of information which typically has almost nothing to do with the real astrology.

The astrological characteristic that can be easily defined from just a date, like the 12th of October, is the position of the Sun in a sign of the Zodiac. Most newspapers will tell you that the 12th of October is "under" Libra. This has nothing to do with the Lunar Conception method presented here. The Lunar Conception method is based on the angular distance between the Sun and the Moon, and the gender is defined by the position of the Moon in the Zodiac, not the Sun. In order to define this position, quite complex astronomical calculations are performed by the Lunar Conception Calculator.

You were lucky to conceive a child of the desired gender - after all, it's a 50/50 chance - but this doesn't mean that to have a boy you simply need to conceive "under the masculine sign of Libra". The Moon should be in a masculine sign for that, not the Sun.

So the problem is not with the Calculator but with your understanding of the method. Try to read the "About the Method" pages and understand what they say.
